Lucia Fatima Almeida turned a childhood hobby into a successful business in 1988 formerly known as The Tima Collection. She is based in Toronto, Ontario and has shown her work in juried shows, galleries and shops across Canada. She is multi-talented artist using original images from paintings and drawings in her jewellery which she also shows and sells. She also creates original artwork on copper sheet using a unique chemical drawing process. She works with wire to create hand sculpted jewellery and larger wire sculptures. She began to use pennies in her work in 2012 and created a line of jewellery for the Royal Canadian Mint in 2019. She has sold her work to the Rooms Museum in Newfoundland, Ontario Art Gallery Gift shop and McMichael Gallery gift shop, to name only a few. Lucia is also a musician and music motifs often influence her designs. She uses healing themes from her interest in psychology, resulting in designs such as her “cross your heart ring”, as a reminder to be kind to oneself. “Refreshing different” is what she hears most about her work.
